Xia Zhao

Prof. Xia Zhao was admitted to West China University of Medical Sciences in 1978 and then received her master and doctor degrees. Later she studied at Kyoto University, Japan, and at the University of Arkansas, USA.

She has been engaged in obstetrics & gynaecology for more than 30 years, accumulating rich experiences in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological diseases (especially gynecological malignancies). Her relevant studies in this field have been supported by many national grants including 863 Program, 973 Program and National Natural Science Foundation. The research results have been published in top SCI-indexed journals or presented in the meetings of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society. She has published more than 200 scientific articles (as corresponding author for over 70 articles). As the first accomplisher, she was granted the National Natural Science Award (first class) by the Ministry of Education of China.

Prof. Zhao was the Editor-in-Chief of four textbooks or monographs: Obstetrics and Gynecology (two Programmed Textbooks for Colleges and Universities during the eleventh Five-year and thirteen Five-year periods, respectively), Cervical Cancer, and Clinical Drug Therapeutics - Obstetrics and Gynecology. She was also the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of two other textbooks: Obstetrics and Gynecology (one textbook for long-program students and one programmed textbook for standardized training of residents). She has trained more than 80 doctors and masters. She was the winner of the honorable title of “Instructor of 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertations”.

She is a specialist who enjoys the State Council Special Allowance, Chief Expert of Health and Family Planning Commission of Sichuan Province, Guest Professor of University Women's Clinic, Tuebingen, Germany, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Practical Obstetrics and Gynecology, and member of the editorial board of Human Gene Therapy. Her titles also include member of the Standing Committee of Gynecologic Oncology Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Vice Chairwoman of Women and Children Health Care Branch of China International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Healthcare, Vice Chairwoman of Reproductive System Disease Management Branch of China Healthy Birth Science Association, Vice Chairwoman of the first session of Sichuan Famous Doctor Association, and Vice President of Sichuan Women Doctor Association.
