West China Second Hospital and AME jointly launch Gynecology and Pelvic Medicine

A signing ceremony was hold between the West China Second Hospital (WCSH) of Sichuan University (also named as West China Women’s and Children’s Hospital) and AME Publishing Company in Chengdu on April 25, 2018, marking the launch of a new journal Gynecology and Pelvic Medicine (GPM) (Figure 1). The ceremony was attended by Prof. Hanmin Liu, director of WCSH; Prof. Xiaoyu Niu, deputy director of WCSH; Prof. Xia Zhao, director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of WCSH; Prof. Ping Wang, chief of the Gynecology Department; Mr. Daoyuan Wang, president of AME Publishing Company; Ms. Yan Fang, vice president of AME Publishing Company; and Mr. Qi Li, director of AME Chengdu Office.

Based on AME’s rich experience in publishing international peer-reviewed journals, the strong partnership between WCSH and AME will ensure GPM a great success. Focusing on basic, translational, and clinical research in obstetrics and gynecology, GPM is committed to serving as an international academic exchange platform, promoting the academic exchanges among Chinese and foreign scientists and clinicians, and further increasing WCSH’s international impact.

Prof. Hanmin Liu (Figure 2) emphasized the significance of GPM for WCSH in his speech at the ceremony. “Creating a high-profile SCI-indexed journal has long been the vision of WCSH. We hope that, through this cooperation, we will truly own a SCI-listed journal.” said Prof. Liu, “We will work with colleagues from AME to run GPM, building a good reputation for this journal and truly achieving ‘quality first’.”

President Daoyuan Wang (Figure 3) appreciated the supports from WCSH. “Prof. Liu’s high expectation on GPM is both pressure and motivation for us.” said Wang. “GPM is also of great significance to AME. It is the first peer-reviewed journal launched by AME Chengdu Office and we will do our best to make it a success.” AME has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journals (6 indexed in SCIE and 18 indexed in PubMed), covering various fields of medicine. “Our consistent philosophy is to create journals well recognized and respected by our global peers. We will prove it.” Wang added.

Prof. Xia Zhao, editor-in-chief of GMP, and Prof. Xiaoyu Niu, executive editor of GMP, stated that they will do their utmost to make the journal a great success, with high impacts in Southwestern China, nationwide, and globally, which will also help to bring WCSH to a higher platform (Figures 4,5). Prof. Ping Wang said that every effort will be made to facilitate the steady growth of GMP (Figure 6).

WCSH and AME will hold a news release conference on June 9 to formally announce the establishment of GPM (Figure 7).

About West China Second Hospital

The West China Second Hospital (WCSH) of Sichuan University (also West China Women’s and Children’s Hospital) is under the direct administration of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and is among the first group of grade A tertiary hospitals specialized in women and children health care. It is the first Internet-based hospital in Sichuan Province and integrates medical services, teaching, scientific research, preventive health care, and talent training. Its obstetrics and gynecology department is a national key discipline, and gynecology department and obstetrics department are national key medical specialties. Gynecological malignancy diagnosis and treatment is a key subject supported by the National Health and Family Planning Commission. It also serves as Sichuan Provincial Obstetrics and Gynecology Quality Control Center, Sichuan Provincial Maternal and Child Inspection Quality Control Center, Sichuan Provincial Critically Ill Pregnant Women Rescue Center, Sichuan Provincial Prenatal Diagnostic Center, and Sichuan Provincial Women’s Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Disorders Management Quality Control Center. In 2008, the Western Institute of Maternal and Child Medicine was officially established in WCSH. The hospital hosts two State-level journals: Chinese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics (Electronic Edition; listed in Source Journal for Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations) and International Journal of Blood Transfusion and Hematology.
